WMF Bauhaus Art Deco Hammered Silver and Porcelain Tea Set
WMF Bauhaus Art Deco Hammered Silver and Porcelain Tea Set
This is an amazing 5 piece silver plated tea set made during the Art Deco era by famous German design and manufacturing company WMF (Wurttembergische MetallwarenFabrik). The set is in a modern, hand hammered, Bauhaus design with porcelain inserts and bakelite accents. This five piece set comprises:
A porcelain tea pot, with removable silver plate insulated cover in hammered design. The silver plated sheathing is lined with felt for insulating hot beverages. The feet and button accent at the top are made of bakelite. Measures 10.5"(spout to handle) x 6"(across) x 6.5"(tall). Excellent condition with no cracks or chips, and no metal showing through the silver plate.
A porcelain coffee pot, with removable silver plate insulated cover in hammered design. The silver plated sheathing is lined with felt for insulating hot beverages. The feet and handle on top are made of bakelite. Measures 10"(spout to handle) x 5.5"(across) x 9.5"(tall). Good condition with no chips or cracks, a very slight dent in the hammered sheath (that I just noticed looking at it from an angle). However, the plating is starting to show wear, and some of the copper metal is showing through on the edges of the hammered design.
A silver plated porcelain sugar bowl with top. Measures 5"(handle to handle) x 3.25"(across) x 4"(tall including handle on top). Excellent condition with no cracks or chips and not wear to the silver.
A silver plated porcelain cream pourer. Measures 5.5"(handle to spout) x 3.25"(across) x 3.5"(tall). Very good condition with no chips or cracks and some slight wear to the silver in the center.
A silver plated lidded waste bowl or tea caddy. Measures 3.75"(diameter) x 3.25"(tall including handle). Very good condition with no chips or cracks and minor wear to the silver with some copper showing through.
All pieces marked with the WMF trademark.
This is such a great tea set in really wonderful condition for its age. It is highly collectible, and I would be happy to send more pictures if you are interested. Please email me for more images.
